Men's Swimming and Diving Big 8 Champs!!
For those that may not have heard yet, the Men's Swim & Dive team earned top honors at the Big 8 Conference Champs, making this a 3-peat season after winning 1st place in 2016 and 2017. Congratulations to our swimmers and divers, and coaches, for all of their hard work this past season. Now it's on to States in a couple of weeks.
After Day 1 of the Big 8 Conference Championships at ARC, Coach Breitbart calculated that the Sierra Men headed into day 2 in good standing.
Day 2 the Men's team maintained their top spot. We had 17 swimmers compete in the preliminary races in the morning and all 17 qualified for a top 8 spot in the finals. This means they all contributed points towards the team when day 2 came to a close. Congrats to all of our racers for a great day at the pool collecting points for 1st - 8th place.
For those that weren't at the pool, we had some exciting races, with one first place win in the backstroke when Alex Siniy outstretched his opponent and hit the pad first separated by only 1/100th of a second.
For Day 3, the men's team had 17 athletes compete in the preliminaries in the morning and all 17 earned a spot in the top 8 racing for points in the afternoon.
Yay for our divers too who competed the prior week. All four divers placed high enough to earn points for the Wolverine team with 3 of the 4 qualified to move on to States.
