It was a close match between the Pirates and the Wolverines Thursday night in Modesto, but in true Wolverine fashion, Sierra College pulled off the 3-0 win over Modesto Junior College. One would have been hard pressed to pick a winner throughout the first two sets, each team holding their own leading to a 28-26 and a 25-23 first and second set respectively. But Sierra rallied in the third to top Modesto 25-10 and clinch the match.

40 kills spread out across nine wolverine players certainly helped Sierra take the match, with Madison Mateer and Grace Lemmo tying for the match high of 11 kills each. Alex Cook racked up 35 assists, with Ryan Blackwood and Kalala Strickland leading the Wolverines with 20 and 16 digs respectively.

With the victory over Modesto, Sierra improves to 12-2 overall, and 4-0 in the Big 8 as they remain undefeated in conference play. The Wolverines return home to face Folsom Lake (also undefeated in league play) at 6:30pm on Wednesday, October 4 at Goto/Goldenberg Court in Rocklin, Calif.
