Kaone Hunter pitched a one-hitter and blasted a two-run homer to lead the Sierra College softball team to a 4-1 win over the College of the Siskiyous in the opening game of the CCCAA NorCal regionals in Rocklin Friday.

Hunter struck out six Eagles and didn't give up a hit after Hannah Newman's solo HR in the top of the first. She then gave the Wolverines all the runs they'd need with a towering shot to straight-away center in the home half of the first.

Alicia Peters opened the second with a double and then scored on a Siskiyous error three batters later. The win gave the fourth-seeded Wolverines (33-8) a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series against the #13 Eagles (20-21).

The series concludes Saturday (5/6) with game two at noon and game three, if necessary, at 2:00pm.
