Wolverines cap a stellar season on the links

The Sierra College men's golf team capped a stellar season with an eighth-place finish at the CCCAA Golf State Championships. Cypress College captured the first men's golf state title in school history, leading the tournament from start to finish.

The Wolverines were led by Westney White, who posted a 36-hole total of 159 (79-80) May 14 at the Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara. Kyle Katz (79-82) and Sam King (80-81) finished at 161. Andrew Knight posted scores of 81 and 85 and Tre Hunter went 90, 77. Josh Correa-Wilson rounded out the scoring with a 176 total (87-89).

"Finishing so well at the state championships was a wonderful experience," said Wolverine head coach Walter Hix III. "It was truly an honor, and this team has a lot to be proud of."

Sierra reached the state championships with a fourth-place finish at the NorCal tournament and finished second in the Big 8 Conference.
