Sierra second at Big 8 Conference No. 9 in Davis

The Sierra College men's golf team put together one of its better overall matches of the season to finish second at the Big 8 Conference tournament No. 9 played at Wildhorse Golf Course on April 4.

"Coming back from spring break everybody struggled a bit to get back into a good groove," said Sierra coach Walter Hix III. "So the goal for this tournament was to fine tune it a bit more and we did that."

Kyle Katz shot 71 to pace the Wolverines and Westney White (76), Josh Correa (79) and Andrew Knight (79) all posted rounds in the 70s for Sierra. Rounding out the scoring was Tre Hunter (80) and Sam King (85).

On Monday, April 2, White and Knight both shot 77 to help the Wolverines to a third place finish at the Stockton Golf and Country Club. The Wolverines finished behind Folsom Lake and American River.

Rounding out the scoring for Sierra were Katz (80), Hunter (84), King (88) and Correa (92).

Sierra will play next at Big 8 Conference No. 10 in Santa Rosa on Wednesday, April 11 (12 pm).
