Sky Valenzuela joins the Sierra College Baseball coaching staff in 2017. Sky spent the past four seasons coaching at Abilene Christian University. Valenzuela played at Sierra in 2007 and 2008 and helped the Wolverines win the 2008 California State Championship. Aside from his on-field work as hitting coach, Valenzuela will help run all of Sierra’s camps throughout the year.
Valenzuela graduated from Abilene Christian University in 2012 after playing two seasons with the Wildcats. As a junior transfer utility player in 2010, he hit .344 in 15 games for the Wildcats, who finished 50-15 and reached the NCAA Division II South Central Region championship game before falling to Central Missouri.
As a senior in 2011 he hit .318 in 38 games (24 starts) for the Wildcats, who finished 24-23 on the season. He hit two home runs and drove in 15 runs for the Wildcats. He also appeared in nine games on the mound and finished 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA in 11 innings of work.
