Men’s Swim and Dive Bring Home Second State Title in Program History On May 4, 2019, the Sierra College Men’s Swimming and Diving team edged their way to the 2019 CCCAA State Championship! By doing so, the Wolverine squad also made history, becoming the first Sierra athletic team to win more than one state championship in the same sport (Men’s Swim and Dive also won the title in 2016). 2019 Swim and Dive State Championship Preview The California Community College Athletic Association 2019 State Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will again feature a formidable defending state women's champ in Orange Coast College while the men's title may be between Big 8 Conference foes Sierra and Diablo Valley. Sierra Beach Volleyball Repeats as Big 8 Conference Champions Coming into the day Sierra had to defeat Delta College and the College of the Redwoods to have its share of the Championship and did not disappoint, blanking Delta and Redwoods for the co-championship with Feather River. Full Story
Beach Volleyball's Top Pair Takes Home 2019 Big 8 Pairs Championship For the second year in a row, Sierra College Beach has the top pair in the conference. Meghan Merlino and Haley Biles cruised through bracket play and met their conference foe in Howard and Hampton from Feather River College in the winner take all final. In a thrilling 3-set match, Merlino and Biles secured the victory, and with it the 2019 Big 8 Conference Pairs Championship. Full Story
Sierra Softball (NorCal #5) Hosts Fresno City (NorCal #12) in Round One of 2019 Playoffs Sierra College Softball picks up the #5 NorCal Seed in the 2019 CCCAA Softball Playoffs, and hosts Fresno City (NorCal #12) on Friday at 4:00pm, and Saturday at 12:00pm and 2:00pm (if necessary) in a best of three series. Sierra finishes 2nd in 2017-18 NATYCAA standings
Sierra College finished second in the CCCAA standings for the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators all-sports competition for 2017-18, behind Mt. San Antonio College. Sierra has been a constant among the top-10 finishers since winning the NATYCAA Cup during its first year in 2003-04.
2018 Athletic Scholarship Celebration
The 2018 Sophomore Transfer Day was held Wednesday, May 9 in the Rocklin Campus cafeteria. Sixty athletes from 16 different Wolverine teams were honored. This athletic celebration is an annual event to celebrate those student-athletes who are moving on to the next level, both athletically as well as academically. Coaches and students spoke about the student-athlete experience here, and how Sierra has helped prepare them for academics and athletics at the next level.
Placer Valley Tourism Donates $44,000 for Beach Volleyball Facility
Placer Valley Tourism on Tuesday night made a generous donation of $44,000 towards the construction of our new Beach Volleyball facility. The donation was made official during the Sierra College Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, August 8th.
