Sierra’s football game against Butte Saturday at Buzz Ostrom stadium turned into a bit of a track meet, with both teams taking turns attacking the others’ end zone. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, they were in a track meet against a team called the Roadrunners.
Brandon Aiyuk caught his state-leading 10th touchdown pass and Will Brocchini picked off his fifth and sixth interceptions--also tops in the state--as Sierra College won its third straight non-conference football game 52-30 Saturday at Santa Rosa JC.
Early in the game against the College of the Sequoias, Sierra College Wolverines repeatedly found themselves with poor field position and an inability to run the football. Add in a bad snap over the punter’s head and some false starts…what’s a coach to do? Sierra coach Ben Noonan called on the tenacious Wolverine defense to create more stops, called for a flea-flicker touchdown play, and rolled out a Meatball near the goal line.
